PEP OFFERS A WIDE SPECTRUM OF CLASSES AND PROGRAMS TO HELP PARENTS WITH CHILDREN AT DIFFERENT AGES AND STAGES OF LIFE AND WITH DIFFERENT BEHAVIORAL NEEDS. IN 2019, OVER 3,500 PARENTS REGISTERED FOR A VARIETY OF PEP PARENTING PROGRAMS, INCLUDING: IN-PERSON MULTI-WEEK PARENTING COURSES FOR PRESCHOOLERS, ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AND TWEENS/TEENS; IN-PERSON WORKSHOPS AND ONLINE CLASSES ON TOPICS SUCH AS SIBLING RIVALRY, MANAGING ANGER, ENCOURAGEMENT, SETTING LIMITS, AND MANAGING SCREENS; AND COMMUNITY TALKS IN SCHOOLS AND FOR OTHER COMMUNITY GROUPS TO EXPOSE PARENTS TO THE BENEFITS OF PARENTING EDUCATION. PEP CLASSES ARE INTERACTIVE AND EXPERIENTIAL, AND CLASS LEADERS ARE AVAILABLE FOR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS FROM EACH PARENT. SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PARENTS NOT ABLE TO AFFORD CLASS FEES. IN 2019, PEP CONTINUED THE FOURTH YEAR OF THE PEP PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM, WHICH PROVIDES PARENTING CLASSES AT NO COST TO UNDERSERVED AUDIENCES. WE PARTNERED WITH THE LINKAGES TO LEARNING PROGRAM IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO OFFER PEP PARENTING CLASSES IN SPANISH TO LOW-INCOME LATINO FAMILIES, PEP CLASSES ARE LED BY CERTIFIED PARENTING EDUCATORS WHO ARE VOLUNTEERS. IN 2019, PEP HAD APPROXIMATELY 150 VOLUNTEERS, WHICH INCLUDED VOLUNTEER CERTIFIED PARENTING EDUCATORS AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS WHO LED AND ASSISTED WITH OVER 220 CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, TALKS AND OTHER PARENTING PROGRAMS. ALSO IN 2019, PEP CONDUCTED A 6 MONTH PLANNING PROCESS ENGAGING THE WIDER PEP COMMUNITY, WHICH RESULTED IN AN UPDATED STRATEGIC DIRECTION THAT CALLS FOR PEP TO WORK MORE CLOSELY WITH ORGANIZATIONAL AND BUSINESS PARTNERS TO SERVE THEIR PARENT CONSTITUENCIES, WHILE CONTINUING OUR PROGRAMS THAT SERVE INDIVIDUAL PARENTS DIRECTLY.
