To provide Washington, DC boys and girls, from historically underserved neighborhoods, the opportunity to learn the game of lacrosse and the life skills associated with playing a team sport. Winners offers DC area boys and girls the opportunity to belong to a team; to learn discipline, responsibility and accountability; to be respected and to respect; to learn values and life skills; and to be mentored by positive and encouraging coaches. Young participants from historically underserved neighborhoods learn these essential skills for success while playing lacrosse in a safe and fun environment. These skills, along with the necessary skills to play the game of lacrosse, are taught through coaches training, curriculum training and lesson planning. Winners assists players with secondary school placement and teaches them about teamwork, responsibility, respect and accountability to help them reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible young men and women.
