Mission

The mission of Rappahannock CASA is to advocate for abused and neglected children to grow up in safe permanent homes where they have the opportunity to thrive.

About

The primary program is to train and support volunteers who are appointed by the courts to advocate for abused and neglected children in court matters. During the fiscal year ended June 30, 2018, the organization had 65 volunteers (including board members) who contributed 7,550 hours in support of 236 children. Volunteers and/or staff attended 286 court hearings. Volunteers submitted court reports in 192 hearings. The court considered 68% of the recommendations made by the CASA, and incorporated 93% of those into their court orders and rejected 5%. (Of all the recommendations we made, including those not considered, judges incorporated 63%).
