About

The Highland Park Conservancy (HPC) is the official not-for-profit volunteer organization formed to help preserve Highland Park's unique heritage and to promote its vast horticultural, educational and recreational resources. It supports sound planning, management and restoration. Conservancy volunteers conduct tours and other educational events that are free and open to all. Tours include those that focus on the various horticultural collections in the park, the key features of this Olmsted designed park and history of the park. Volunteers also participate by undertaking small, maintenance projects and serving on various committees. Continued on schedule OHPC has an agreement with Monroe County. This agreement recognizes HPC as the official not-for-profit support organization for Highland Park. A main focus of the Conservancy is the restoration and reconstruction of the 1890 Children's Pavilion to its original form, scale and style, with adaptation for universal access. A key feature of the Frederick Law Olmsted's park, the Pavilion served as a popular community landmark and gathering place for seventy-three years - until it was demolished in 1963. HPC is currently involved in a capital campaign to raise funds to reconstruct the Children's Pavilion.
