More about this organization

Mission

To encourage and inspire through discovery in nature

About

In 2018, approximately 1,200 students from area schools visited Camp Discovery for standards-based educational experiences in a natural environment. The Discovery Days program was transformed to be aligned to the state standards and to include literature, team-building and STEM challenges, all while promoting environmental stewardship and respite in nature. These fields studies served K-12 students in Richland and surrounding counties. There were increased efforts to develop and strengthen partnerships with community-based organizations, including South Carolina Wildlife Federation, Clemson Extension, Richland County Stormwater Management Division and the town of Blythewood. A bee course/pollinator garden was installed and a corn crib from the 1800's was restored for educational use.
