DCC facilitated serving & learning connection between individuals, churches and faith based organizations from North America and churches that are connected to the Red Del Camino Network Movement in Latin America. These connections promote mutual learning about integral mission, community transformation, volunteerism and partnership for the common good in contexts of great need. DCC facilitated 16 serving & learning connections in 2018 were facilitated in collaboration with the Red Del Camino Networks in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Honduras and Guatemala. More than 200 volunteers participated in these connections. The serving component of these connections provided support to communities in need through educational training for teachers, vacation Bible school for children in under resourced communities, support to youth leadership networks, participation in infrastructural improvements and building projects for churches and community centers, work with the homeless and those struggling with additions in recovery programs, among other community service initiatives. In May DCC facilitated a learning journey in Central America to raise awareness of the realities and conditions that the poor in Central America face which drive them to make the migratory journey north in search of a better future.
