About
Exhibitions -- A major service the Museum provides for the public is the exhibition of art. Steffen Thomas art and accompanying didactic information is displayed in the Main Gallery, the History Gallery and the Thomas Family Room Gallery. In the West Gallery chaning temporary exhibitions are displayed, often featuring the art of living artists. This year folk artists, quilters, and portrait artists were amongst those invited to exhibit. Gallery talks and free receptions are offered to the public. During FY 2018-2019 the Museum also produced an 11 minute video about the life and art of Steffen Thomas and the Museum named after him. The film is shown to visitors to the Museum in the Education Gallery. Several thousand people had the chance to visit this year. In addition, significant work was done to improve and update the storage of collections in the archives, which included adding shelving, purchase of archival storage materials, and digitization of artifacts pertaining to the life and career of Steffen Thomas.
