About
During the 2018-19 school year, Healthmpowers served 800 early care centers, K-12 schools, out of school time clubs, and community sites by collaborating with existing sites and coalitions to improve health behaviors, access to fresh fruits and vegetables, and physical activity levels. Using CDC's evidence-based guidelines, our core program spans a multiyear partnership for assessing and expanding health and wellness efforts, promoting positive health messaging, and creating healthy environments. Healthmpowers served 179 early care and education centers, reaching 11,486 children and families. Through three statewide programs, Healthmpowers empowered child care centers to enact policies and practices to increase healthy eating, physical activity and language development supporting both healthy body and brain development. Out of 6,387 students participating in a multi-year program supported by SNAP-ED (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education), 2,356 children were engaged in creating edible gardens and 3,357 children experienced more quality physical activity time.
