Mission

Established in 2001, Future Foundation's (FF) mission is to level the playing field for metro Atlanta youth by providing quality educational, health, and life skills programming. Launched in 2004, FF experienced tremendous expansion, growing from one program with 15 participants to five programs serving more than 1,500 youth and parents annually, and more than 90 percent of whom live below the poverty level.

About

Since 2004, the Future Foundation of Atlanta has been proving success in its data-driven approach to the eradication of poverty. 100% of youth participating in our program graduate high school on time and go on to enroll in the post-secondary program of their choice. They also have continuing access to the social capital and relationships they formed while in our programs, leading to greater life-long success. Future Foundation is in year two of a five-year federal research study discovering and documenting best-practices within the Second Family Model. Preliminary findings from the first year of the PREIS (initiative revealed that students in the research group showed a greater increase in knowledge of the reduced risk of contracting HIV/AIDS from condom use than students in the control group (Well-Being impact area metric: numbers of residents with chronic diseases, including HIV/AIDS). Future Foundation is also conducting a longitudinal study examining the effectiveness of our work over time. The study confirmed that students who attend programming for multiple consecutive years improved their math and language arts scores at a significantly higher rate than students who attended the program sporadically or for just one academic year. Programmatic Objective 1: Improve academic performance with an emphasis in Language Arts & math?as measured by percentage of students who score Developing, Proficient, or Distinguished Learner as part of the GA Milestones Language Arts assessment (annual). Achieved an average of 55% (Goal: 45%) Programmatic Objective 2: Foster whole child development?as measured by percentage of students who decrease risky behaviors and improve character demonstrated by self-assessment. Achieved an average of 88% (Goal: 60%) Programmatic Objective 3: Increase adult family member involvement?as measured by percentage of regularly attending students' family members who attend at least one parent involvement activity related to academic performance and one related to high risk behavior, evidenced by sign-in sheets. Achieved an average of 128% (Goal: 55%)
