Mission

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Florida's (BBBSNEFL) mission is to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth. Since 1914, BBBSNEFL has effectively inspired change in the lives of thousands through impactful mentoring programs and meaningful relationships that defend and ignite today’s youth to reach their full potential. Serving children ages 5 through 18, we currently have active matches in Nassau, Duval, Clay, Putnam and Volusia Counties including a service footprint reaching Baker, Flagler, and Union Counties.

About

Site-Based Program: During the course of 2018/2019 fiscal year, 585 children were matched with a caring volunteer from the community for professionally managed, one-to-one, site based mentoring. The mentoring occurred an average of one hour weekly each week over the course of the school year on location at the child's school. In addition to the site based sessions, eligible site based matches were invited to attend two group outings, sponsored by BBBSNEFL, over the summer to maintain participant engagement and promote participant satisfaction and thus retention rate in the subsequent FY. End of year reports indicate advances were made by the majority of students engaged in the program as they pertain to academic, behavior, and social successes.
