Mission Statement: To assist individuals to live independently by providing caring, supportive services. You may know "Meals on Wheels," but Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee is much, much more. Through our services, we provide hope, healing, independence, and friendship. In addition to the traditional home-delivered meals provided to homebound or disabled seniors, we offer transportation, social activities, and enrichment opportunities. The most unique aspect of Meals on Wheels PLUS is that we operate The Food Bank of Manatee, serving babies, families, and individuals in need through our network of 85+ partner agencies. Through this program and all the others we offer, Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee furthers its vision of "individuals in Manatee County have access to programs that end hunger and promote independent living." The Board of Directors and staff are committed to meeting the needs of our community and working so that no child, family, or senior goes hungry.

THE FOOD BANK OF MANATEETHE FOOD BANK OF MANATEE IS THE PRIMARY HUNGER RELIEF ORGANIZATION BASED IN MANATEE COUNTY, DISTRIBUTING FOOD TO APPROXIMATELY 64 LOCAL PARTNER AGENCIES, INCLUDING FOOD PANTRIES, SOUP KITCHENS AND SOCIAL SERVICE ORGANIZATIONS. IN 2019, MORE THAN 3.6 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD WAS DISTRIBUTED TO AGENCIES SERVING CHILDREN, FAMILIES AND SENIORS IN NEED. THE FOOD BANK ALSO RUNS THE EMERGENCY FAMILY & BABY BASKET PROGRAM, ASSISTING FAMILIES AND BABIES IN CRISIS. 3,239 FOOD CRISES KITS AND EMERGENCY BABY BASKETS WERE DISTRIBUTED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM IN 2019. THE EMERGENCY FAMILY BASKETS PROVIDE ENOUGH FOOD FOR ONE WEEK AND THE BABY BASKETS CONTAIN CRITICAL INFANT NEEDS LIKE FORMULA AND BABY FOOD. WHILE THE FOOD BANK GENERALLY PARTNERS WITH NON-PROFIT, PARTNER AGENCIES TO ENSURE MAXIMUM OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY, OVER 126,000 WEEKEND MEALS WERE DIRECTLY DISTRIBUTED OVER THE SUMMER TO FOOD-INSECURE SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN.
