SEE SCHEDULE O FOR A COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS.SINCE 1986, THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER HAS WORKED TO PREVENT HOMELESSNESS BY HELPING CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WITH CRITICAL NEEDS DURING FINANCIAL CRISES CAUSED BY JOB LOSS AND HEALTH ISSUES. WE STRIVE TO GIVE PEOPLE NOT JUST FOOD AND OTHER TANGIBLE AID, BUT A WARM WELCOME THAT LETS THEM KNOW THEY HAVE FRIENDS DURING THEIR STRUGGLE. SERVICES ARE OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE AT CASEWORK SITES IN LONGWOOD.THE SHARING CENTER IS A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) FAITH-BASED AGENCY THAT ENJOYS THE SUPPORT OF BUSINESSES, CONGREGATIONS, CIVIC GROUPS, SOCIAL GROUPS, SCOUT TROOPS AND SCHOOLS, AS WELL AS CARING INDIVIDUALS WHO WORK TOGETHER TO HELP OUR NEIGHBORS IN NEED. OUR THRIFT STORE, BOUTIQUE! SHOP AND OUR GOOD SAMARITAN SOCIETY ARE OUR MAJOR FUND-RAISERS, AUGMENTED WITH MANY DONATIONS AND GRANTS FROM FOUNDATIONS AND TRUSTS. WE NETWORK WITH OTHER NON-PROFIT AND LOCAL AGENCIES TO BETTER ASSIST PEOPLE IN NEED IN OUR COMMUNITY.A VOLUNTEER BOARD OF DIRECTORS OVERSEES OPERATION OF THE SHARING CENTER, OFFERING EXPERTISE IN VARIOUS BUSINESS AND CIVIC AREAS AND REPRESENTING LOCAL CONGREGATIONS AND DENOMINATIONS. PAID STAFF INCLUDES A PRESIDENT/CEO, DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS, DIRECTOR OF STORE MANAGEMENT, DIRECTOR OF CLIENT SERVICES, AND OTHERS WHO WORK DIRECTLY WITH CLIENTS OR IN OTHER AREAS OF THE AGENCY. VOLUNTEERS AND STUDENT INTERNS ALSO ASSIST.THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER ASSISTS WITH BASIC AND ESSENTIAL NEEDS DURING TIMES OF PERSONAL FINANCIAL CRISES CAUSED BY JOB LOSS AND HEALTH ISSUES. CLIENTS MAY RECEIVE FOOD AND CLOTHING, HELP WITH COSTS OF RENT/MORTGAGE, TRANSPORTATION, BUS TOKENS, UTILITIES AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS. CHILDREN OR ADULTS IN THE FAMILY MAY BE ASSISTED IN SPECIAL WAYS SPECIFIC TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL OR FAMILY NEEDS. THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER LEASES ITS SPACE FROM ITS SUBSIDIARY, SHARING CENTER PROPERTIES, A TITLE HOLDING COMPANY. THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER LEASES APPROXIMATELY 70% OF THE SPACE. THE SPACE IS A 37,804 SQ. FT. PLAZA IN LONGWOOD WHICH IS THE PERMANENT HOME AND ENDOWMENT FOR FUTURE NEEDS OF SEMINOLE COUNTY'S WORKING POOR, TRANSFORMING IT INTO A ONE-STOP HUB OFFERING HELP WITH A VARIETY OF NEEDS IN ONE LOCATION, AS ADDITIONAL SERVICES ARE ADDED AND OTHER NON-PROFITS WELCOMED TO THE SITE. THE SHARING CENTER HAS AN OASIS DAYTIME SERVICE FOR THE HOMELESS TO PROVIDE A PLACE TO SHOWER, WASH CLOTHES AND TO WORK ON JOB SEARCHES. THE ONLY FACILITY OF ITS KIND LOCATED IN SEMINOLE COUNTY, THE OASIS GIVES HOMELESS AND PRECARIOUSLY HOUSED FAMILIES AN ABILITY TO RETAIN THEIR DIGNITY IN THEIR STRUGGLE TO GET BACK TO A MORE STABLE LIFE. ONSITE MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING, LEGAL AID, AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ARE ALSO OFFERED THROUGH THEIR PARTNER SERVICES.DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019, THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER PROVIDED NON-CASH ASSISTANCE TO CLIENTS WHICH WAS PURCHASED WITH PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $351,108 FOR SHELTER, HOUSING, FOOD, UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION. THIS IS RECORDED AS A PROGRAM EXPENSE - GRANT ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS ON THE STATMENT OF FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES. IN ADDITION TO THAT ASSISTANCE, NON-CASH ASSISTANCE IN THE FORM OF IN-KIND DONATIONS WERE RECEIVED FROM DONORS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,844,550 AND DISTRIBUTED TO CLIENTS VALUED AT $2,835,936. THESE ARE RECORDED AS NON-CASH CONTRIBUTIONS ON THE STATEMENT OF REVENUE AND AS A PROGRAM EXPENSE - GRANT ASSITANCE TO INDIVIDUALS ON THE STATEMENT OF FUNCTIONAL EXPENSES. DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019, 7,947 SINGLES AND HOUSEHOLDS WERE SERVED UNDER CASE MANAGEMENT, 51,611 BAGS OF FOOD WERE HANDED OUT, 5,872 CLOTHING VOUCHERS WERE HANDED OUT AT THE THRIFT STORE, 240 FAMILIES RECEIVED SHELTER ASSISTANCE, 114 FAMILIES RECEIVED UTILITY ASSISTANCE, 1,815 SINGLES AND HOUSEHOLDS WERE SERVED BY OASIS WHICH REPRESENTED 6,503 VISITS AND 7,421 SERVICES, 83 PEOPLE RECEIVED TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANCE, AND 1,478 SHOE GIFT CARDS WERE HANDED OUT AT EVENTS.DURING FISCAL YEAR 2019, THE THRIFT STORE AND BOUTIQUE! SHOP HAD $1,046,268 IN TOTAL SALES WHICH WERE USED TO FURTHER THE MISSION OF THE THE CHRISTIAN SHARING CENTER. THESE SALES WERE AS A RESULT OF ADDITIONAL IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS OF CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS IN ADDITION TO THE IN-KIND CONTRIBUTIONS OF CLOTHING AND HOUSEHOLD GOODS WHICH WERE CONTRIBUTED AND DISTRIBUTED TO CLIENTS THROUGH THE THRIFT STORE.
