Friends of Pool supports the development, operation and maintenance of Pool, the first water-filtrating, floating pool. It also promotes, encourages and supports the preservation, restoration, conservation, maintenance and use of pools, rivers, oceans, lakes and other bodies of water for recreational, scientific and educational purposes; promotes, encourages and supports water treatment systems and educational programs focused on water stewardship; and educates the public about the importance of clean water.

Friends of Pool has continued to spearhead the development of Pool, the first water-filtrating floating swimming pool that will clean the New York Harbor while providing a public, recreational space for all New Yorkers. Major accomplishments also include educational programs for the community Pool will one day serve, including free swim lessons for underserved youth, in-school education teach kids about water quality, and public programs that promote stewardship.
