EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS ON FIRST AMENDMENT LAW, REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM, VOTING RIGHTS, LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL AND TRANSGENDER RIGHTS, IMMIGRANTS' RIGHTS, ABOLITION OF THE DEATH PENALTY, RIGHT TO PROTEST, AND JUSTICE REFORM. ACLU OF KENTUCKY PROGRAM EFFORTS SERVE TO INFORM OUR MEMBERSHIP AND LAY PARTICIPANTS ON PRESSING CIVIL LIBERTIES ISSUES AND TO EDUCATE THEM ON THEIR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. IN 2018, OVER 20 PRIDE CELEBRATIONS WERE HELD THROUGHOUT THE COMMONWEALTH -INCLUDING THE FIRST-EVER PRIDE IN PIKEVILLE. -"CONDUCTED AN INVESTIGATION INTO HOW RECENTLY PASSED "BIBLE LITERACY" LEGISLATION WAS BEING IMPLEMENTED IN KENTUCKY SCHOOLS AND FOUND THAT MANY CLASSROOMS WERE OPERATING LIKE SUNDAY SCHOOLS. WE PUT THE DISTRICTS ON NOTICE AND PROVIDED GUIDANCE TO THE KENTUCKY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AS THEY DEVELOPED STANDARDS FOR THE CLASSES. "PROTESTED AT THE KY FARM BUREAU (KFB) BREAKFAST. KFB PROMOTES POLICIES THAT ARE ANTI-LGBT, ANTI-UNION, ANTI-CHOICE, ANTI-IMMIGRANT, AND PRO-DEATH PENALTY. AS PART OF OUR ONGOING WORK TO UNDERSTAND AND LIFT UP THE HISTORY OF RACIAL INJUSTICE IN THE UNITED STATES, THE ACLU-KY BOARD AND STAFF TRAVELED TO MONTGOMERY, AL FOR THE OPENINGS OF THE NATIONAL MEMORIAL FOR PEACE AND JUSTICE AND THE LEGACY MUSEUM. WE'RE SHARING WHAT WE LEARNED WITH OUR MEMBERS AND SUPPORTERS ACROSS THE COMMONWEALTH.
