Accomplishments
- Adaptive snow skiing - co-sponsors this five day event in january at beech mtn. nc since 2007. the 2018 event will be the 37th anniversary. primary organizer for the event is al kaye of patricia neal, innovative recreation cooperative in knoxville, tn. another co-sponsor is carolinas rehab, asap of charlotte, nc. this is an excellent event with some of the top instructors in the us from adaptive snow programs at breckenridge, co, crested butte, co, new mexico, north carolina, california, etc. Expenses $7,240.
- Adaptive cycling runs between april and october on the second and fourth mondays of each month from 6 to 8 pm at the tn riverpark in chattanooga. we partner in this program with the city of chattanooga, therapeutic recreation dept. and outdoor chattanooga. sparc owns a variety of adult and pediatric handcycles, tandems, and "standard cycles". Expenses $392.
- Adaptive water skiing largest single event of each year is our annual "water sports day", which is always held on the third saturday in july, at the first lutheran church camp on possum creek (backwater of the tennessee river's lake chickamauga). this event includes: water skiing, tubing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and pontoon boat rides on that day. we have had over 250 attendees at this event for the last several years. Expenses $7,125.
