Child education: Head Start - Head Start is a federally-funded comprehensive child development program. In fiscal year 2019 Montgomery Community Action Agency served 1,203 children between the ages of 3-5 years old at 20 centers throughout Montgomery County. The program provides the following services: academic; family services; nutrition; medical health and dental screenings; disability services; parental involvement. Montgomery Community Action Agency's Head Start has partnered with the Montgomery Public School System to integrate classes into several elementary schools. The organization currently has 14 Head Start classrooms located at E.D. Nixon, T.S. Morris, McKee, Highland Garden, Garrett, Southlawn, Wares Ferry Road and Carver elementary schools. Early Head Start - Early Head Start is a federally funded community-based program for low-income families, infants and toddlers and pregnant women. Our goal is to: promote healthy prenatal outcomes for pregnant women; enhance the development of very young children; promote healthy family functioning. In fiscal year 2019 Montgomery Community Action Agency provided responsive care to 96 infants and toddlers at teh RSA composite site. Additionally, 16 expectant teens/women and their families are served through our comprehensive prenatal program.
