Mission
Our mission at Save A Friend P.R. (SAFPR) is to end the needless suffering of animals in Puerto Rico through education, spay/neuter programs, and adoptions.
About
We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization registered in Washington State, USA. We are volunteer based and receive all our funding and supplies through donations. We rescue stray animals, mostly dogs (Satos) and same cats (Gatos) in Puerto Rico. We give medical treatments and make sure they are healthy and socialized before arranging their adoption in a new home. Most of our rescues are flown to the States. We believe in teamwork and volunteer with other rescue groups and the Spay-a-thon. After hurricane Maria caused such devastation in Puerto Rico, we all found ourselves dedicating more and more time to the effort of animal rescue. We have saved and found homes for hundreds of Satos and some Gatos since the storm. It has been quite a challenge, but well worth the effort! We plan to develop and implement additional programs including capture-spay/neuter-release to supplement our ongoing rescue effort.
