The approximately 30 members of the Stinson Beach Volunteer Firefighters' Association provide firefighting, fire-prevention, rescue and emergency medical services and basic ambulance transportation for the Stinson Beach Fire Protection District. Stinson Beach is an isolated community with the nearest paramedic services at least 20 minutes away and the nearest hospital an hour away by ground or 20 minutes by air ambulance. The association members are all volunteer firefighters and/or emergency medical technicians approved by the board of directors of the Stinson Beach Fire Protection District. The members handle all types of emergencies, twenty-four hours a day, every day of the year. The members also provide educational and informational services to members of the Stinson Beach community through public service announcements, first aid and CPR training courses and school visits.
