There are approximately 50,000 elderly in the larger metropolitan area and the number of elderly clients visiting our office is growing. To date, MWRC has served over 2,000 elderly people! One of Muslim Women Resource Center's most vital components includes hosting a series of information sessions and workshops to make the elderly population aware of the resources/benefits available to them. Staff led interactive discussions about caring for elderly adults in the family, meeting the needs of family caregivers, and receiving professional homecare services. Not only does this benefit our clients/the community, but we also have opportunities to learn more about the unique situations faced by elderly individuals/families. The elderly are not only learning that aid is available for them, but that 'it's okay to ask for help'.
