The Salvation Army Turk Street, Inc. serves as the general partner for the Salvation Army Turk Street, LP. In this capacity, the Salvation Army Turk Street, Inc. constructed the Salvation Army's Railton Place, a 110-unit transitional and permanent residence for the homeless. Railton Place advances the primary exempt purpose of Turk Street, which is to provide the homeless and others with services specially designed to meet their physical, social and other psychological needs, and to promote their health, security and happiness. Of the 110 units, 15 are provided to young adults between the ages of 18-24 who have aged out of the foster care system. Another 97 are available to chronically homeless adults and veterans. Rental costs for tenants are limited to 30-35% of the tenant's income. Program services include case management, substance abuse counseling, plus help with cooking, education, employment, and money management through the life skills program.
