Creative schools includes work in eleven Orleans Parish public schools transforming classrooms through arts integration. Schools receive collaborative artist residencies and comprehensive professional development for classroom teachers. During collaborative residencies, teaching artists and teachers co-plan and co-teach instructional units, using common core standards for both arts and academic content. Residencies last for the full year and each of our 3,000+ students worked with a teaching artist an average of 30 - 60 hours. Professional development opportunities include Axis, a full-year, intensive arts integration professional development program for teams from each of the creative schools, individual coaching of teachers in their classrooms and full-faculty workshops.
