GATEWAY FOR CANCER RESEARCH (FORMERLY KNOWN AS CANCER TREATMENT RESEARCH FOUNDATION OR CTRF), A NON-PROFIT 501(C)(3) ORGANIZATION, WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1991 TO PROMOTE RESEARCH THROUGH THE TREATMENT PROCESS AND SUPPORT PROGRESSIVE MOLECULAR, NUTRITIONAL AND IMMUNOLOGICAL RESEARCH PROGRAMS THAT MORE TRADITIONAL CANCER RESEARCH INSTITUTIONS MAY NOT FUND. GATEWAY IS DEDICATED TO ADVANCING INNOVATIONS IN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY AND SPEEDING THEM TO THE CANCER PATIENT'S BEDSIDE. THE WORK OF GATEWAY IS ABOUT GIVING CANCER PATIENTS THE ABILITY TO LIVE LONGER, MORE FULFILLING AND HEALTHIER LIVES.NO PORTION OF ANY PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION TO GATEWAY GOES TO FUNDRAISING OR ADMINISTRATIVE SALARIES. DUE TO GENEROUS CORPORATE UNDERWRITING OF ADMINISTRATIVE EXPENSES, 99% OF PUBLIC CONTRIBUTIONS RECEIVED ARE APPLIED DIRECTLY TO SUPPORT AGGRESSIVE CANCER RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. OUR BOARD OF SCIENTIFIC COUNSELORS APPLIES STRINGENT GUIDELINES FOR REVIEWING EACH GRANT APPLICATION, RECOMMENDING TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS ONLY THOSE THAT ARE IN KEEPING WITH THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION. THROUGH THIS FORMAL REVIEW PROCESS, GATEWAY ENSURES THAT FUNDING IS GRANTED STRICTLY TO THOSE PROJECTS THAT ARE TRULY INNOVATIVE AND HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO QUICKLY TRANSLATE FROM THE RESEARCHER'S LABORATORY TO THE PATIENT'S BEDSIDE.AS THE NATION'S SECOND MOST DEADLY AND COSTLY DISEASE, CANCER RECOGNIZES NO BOUNDARIES. IN THE BATTLE AGAINST CANCER, GATEWAY IS ON THE FRONTLINES, SUPPORTING CLINICAL RESEARCH INITIATIVES DESIGNED TO ENHANCE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR CANCER PATIENTS, SURVIVORS, AND FAMILIES IN EVERY COMMUNITY NATIONWIDE.
