THE OKMULGEE AREA DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION (OADC) SERVES OKMULGEE AND THE OTHER CITIES AND TOWNS IN OKMULGEE COUNTY, OKLAHOMA WITH ECONOMIC AND DEVELOPMENT SERVICES. WITH A FULLTIME STAFF OF ONE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, UP TO A THIRTEEN MEMBERS OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND AS MANY AS 120 VOLUNTEERS PER YEAR. VOLUNTEERS ARE RECRUITED FROM AREA BUSINESSES, SCHOOL SYSTEMS PLUS LOCAL MUNICIPAL AND COUNTY OFFICES. OUR GOAL IS TO PROTECT, PROMOTE AND GROW THE COUNTY ECONOMY. THIS IS DONE BY CREATING EMPLOYMENT GROWTH THROUGH THE ATTRACTION, RETENTION AND START-UP OF BUSINESSES. THE OADC ALSO PROMOTES BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE MARKETING OF FOUR INDUSTRIAL PARKS. TWO OF THE PARKS ARE SHOVEL READY FOR NEW DEVELOPMENT. THE OTHER TWO INDUSTRIAL PARKS ARE SERVED BY INDUSTRIAL LEVEL UTILITIES, BUT NEED FURTHER ENHANCEMENTS TO BE DEEMED SHOVEL READY. THE OKMULGEE BUSINESS COMPLEX IS A CERTIFIED BROWN FIELD INDUSTRIAL PARK WITH A DESIGNATION OF NO FURTHER ACTION REQUIRED BY THE EPA. IT IS ALSO A CERTIFIED INDUSTRIAL PARK BY THE STATE OF OKLAHOMA. OKMULGEE IS HOME TO EIGHT MAJOR MANUFACTURING FACILITIES. OF THE EIGHT COMPANIES, FIVE MARKET THEIR PRODUCTS GLOBALLY AND IN THEIR RESPECTIVE INDUSTRIES ARE GLOBAL LEADERS IN SALES. EXPANSION OF THIS INDUSTRIAL BASE IS A MAJOR EFFORT OF THE OADC. THE OADC IS ALSO EXPANDING ITS ROLL IN PUBLIC EDUCATION IN THE AREAS OF SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH (STEM).
