Mission

To foster the study of theology and religion by enhancing the development of theological and religious studies libraries and librarianship.

About

ATLA supports its membership by: 1) creating databases for scholarly research in theology and religion that libraries offer to the students and faculty they serve, and 2) providing professional development and collaborative projects for librarians that are created and managed by the Member Programs Department. These opportunities include an annual conference, workshops, webinars, reciprocal borrowing between libraries, and open access publications. During fiscal year 2018, ATLA expanded the amount of content in the ATLA Religion Database and integrated all of the citations from the ATLA Catholic Periodicals and Literature Index into it. The database now contains over 2.7 million bibliographic references. A new online research tool, ATLASerials Plus was released, bringing the full text content in ATLA products to 468 journals. More than 300 librarians attended the annual conference, 9 webinars were attended or viewed by 352 librarians, 105 member libraries participated in reciprocal borrowing, and 6 issues of ATLA's open access serials and 2 open access monographs were published.
