AMIGOS inspires leaders through authentic service and immersion experiences. The organization’s mission is to inspire and build young leaders through collaborative community development and cross-cultural friendship in the Americas.
About
AMIGOS Service and Immersion Programs offer students aged 13-22 the unique opportunity to take on real-world challenges and build responsibility. Students are immersed in a new culture, develop language skills, and learn to design and lead community service projects in areas such as public health, micro-enterprise, sports and leadership, children's rights, environmental sustainability. In 2018, 700 students participated in these programs, which range from 2 weeks to 9 months in length: Summer Immersion (4-8 weeks for students 15+), Gap (semester or year options for high school graduates), Discover AMIGOS (2 weeks for students aged 13-15), and custom programs for partner schools, universities, or nonprofits. In 2018, AMIGOS offered these programs in the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, and Ecuador.
