At SPFB, our mission is to alleviate hunger and bring hope to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Through compassionate service, community partnerships, and access to food, we strive to create a future where no one goes hungry. By addressing immediate needs and fostering long-term solutions, we are committed to building a stronger, healthier community for everyone.
About
Food Distribution: SPFB distributed 8.87 million pounds of food during the fiscal year. Through its network of 145 agencies in 20 counties, food is distributed through on-site programs, pantry programs and voucher programs. Throughout the network, 58,442 boxes of food were distributed to families, including 23,897 that were distributed through the mobile pantry program to our outlying communities. SPFB was in its second year of participating in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program and 18,836 commodity food boxes were distributed to seniors.Child Nutrition Programs: SPFB has both an after school feeding program during the school year and a summer feeding program during the summer months. Hot nutritious meals and/or snacks are served at the sites and the children are provided mentoring and nutrition education. During the year, 149,672 Kids Cafe meals and 89,383 summer meals were prepared. Social Services Outreach Program: Food Stamp outreach is provided to ensure that those who have longterm food insecurity are provided with the available resources for ongoing help. During the year, 1,854 Food Stamp applications were successfully filed. SPFB also conducts nutrition education and 4,237 contacts were made during the year. The total number of meals provided through SNAP and pounds distributed was 10.1 million.
