West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM) will be a model of Christian service, utilizing the talents and resources of the community to minister love and support to those in need. WHAM will provide assistance with basic needs and promote independence.

TODAY, 38 YEARS AFTER ITS FOUNDING, WHAM CONTINUES TO STRENGTHEN THE LIVES OF INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES BY PROVIDING RELEVANT AND RESPONSIVE SUPPORT THROUGH SHORT-TERM ASSISTANCE WITH FOOD, CLOTHING, RENT, UTILITIES, ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT RESOURCES, AS WELL AS DISASTER RELIEF, ALL DESIGNED TO MOVE FAMILIES FROM CRISIS TO STABILITY AND TOWARD SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THE AGENCY PROVIDES THIS SUPPORT TO THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE COLLABORATIVE EFFORT OF INDIVIDUALS, BUSINESSES, ORGANIZATIONS, CHURCHES, AND SCHOOLS. IN 2019, WHAM, ITS VOLUNTEERS, AND PARTNERS PROVIDED SERVICES TO 18,547 FAMILIES (42,480 INDIVIDUALS). WHAM'S CLIENT CHOICE PANTRY, WHICH IS PLATINUM-RATED BY THE HOUSTON FOOD BANK AND THE LARGEST IN WEST HOUSTON, SERVED 34,997 INDIVIDUALS WITH 1,563,958 POUNDS OF FOOD IN THE PAST YEAR TO CONTINUE THE FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER. IT WAS DESIGNATED AS ONE OF A FEW TRUSTED HUB AGENCIES DISTRIBUTING FOOD TO SMALLER HOUSTON FOOD BANK AGENCIES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES SPECIAL PROGRAMS SUCH AS HOLIDAY MEALS, TOY DISTRIBUTION, SCHOOL SUPPLIES, AND SHOWERS AND HAIRCUTS FOR THE HOMELESS INDIVIDUAL'S NEEDS.
