Provide patient outreach, education, support groups and services for over 800 patients affected by scleroderma in the Southern California, and build awareness of the disease. Support groups: Support groups provide a forum to share feelings, concerns, information, as well as a place to offer peer support and encouragement. Solicitations or research projects are not conducted at support group meetings. Support groups often feature speakers specializing in scleroderma or related topics. All support groups are free of charge and open to everyone, including patients, caregivers, family and friends. The foundation has 13 local support groups. Most groups meet bi-monthly and have an average attendance of 25-20 people. With a total served at approximately 1000+ patients, caregivers and family members. Education days: The Scleroderma Foundation hosted three education events for patients, family members and caregivers in 2018 with the total number who benefited approximately 300.
