Prospera partners with Latina entrepreneurs to launch social enterprises that foster cooperation, economic independence, and well-being in immigrant communities. Our comprehensive, culturally specific programs address the unique challenges and the immense resourcefulness that Latina immigrants bring. Through our programs, Latina entrepreneurs come together in a safe space to take risks and access the tools and the capital they need to achieve economic independence and well-being.

2018 Program accomplishmentsOutreach and Community Education ProgramsProspera held the Second Annual Summit for Latina Entrepreneurs in partnership with the City of Oakland with a total of 161 participants: 92 were Latina entrepreneurs from across the Bay Area.Prospera partnered with Ganbriela Arvizu a collaborator, entrepreneur, freelance and audiovisual artist to create and launch The Power of a Dream, a series of short videos documenting the lives of Latina immigrant entrepreneurs featuring 3 of our more successful cooperative founders.Prosperas staff and 11 entrepreneurs attended the National Cooperative Conference in LA and led several workshops on power and privilege, coaching and conflict management, reaching approximately 130 Latinx worker owners and coop developers from across the country.Core Programs - entrepreneurship, leadership development and cooperative business ownership54 women graduated from our in-house program with 97% retention rate, from our fundamentals course on cooperative business ownership called Explora.Prosperas incubation program called CRECE tu Cooperativa (Spanish, GROW your cooperative) had 6 very active businesses that supported one another to grow their respective cooperative businesses through the year.Prospera piloted a brand-new program called nete a una Cooperativa (Join a Cooperative) that supported Explora graduates to join existing cooperatives as worker owners.Pepitos Paletas & Professional Eco Cleaning both presented a 100% income growth from last year. Professional Eco Clean (PEC) also celebrated their 2nd anniversary.2018 Fellows graduated from a year-long commitment of growth and learning. The first fellowship focused on Marketing and Social media. This fellow role was instrumental in promoting the 2018 Summit and Prosperas programs. The second fellowship focused on indigenous cooperatives best practices a research that helped this fellow to be able to led various workshops on "The 7 Zapatista Principles" and also a co-facilitate several Explora workshops.Prospera organized 4 tours with successful coops - Cheese Board Collective, Arizmendi Valencia, Hasta Muerte Caf & Rainbow Grocery for the Explora and CRECE participants. Prosperas new partnerships with Kiva loans and Centro trainings helped KaranyArts to leverage a second loan to help grow its business.
