DURING 2018 CALENDAR YEAR WE SERVED 26,243 INDIVIDUALS IN OUR STORE, WHO COMBINED TO RECEIVE 112,111 TOTAL STORE SERVICES. THE NUMBER OF DIFFERENT HOUSEHOLDS SERVED DURING THE YEAR WAS 7,897. OF THE PEOPLE SERVED, 33% WERE CHILDREN 18 AND UNDER, AND 12% WERE SENIORS. IN ADDITION, MISSOULA FOOD BANK & COMMUNITY CENTER SERVED 7,969 INDIVIDUALS FOR THE THANKSGIVING HOLIDAY, AND SERVED AN ADDITIONAL 1,440 CUSTOMERS IN THE LOLO AND POTOMAC AREAS. EACH MONTH, THE ROOTS PROGRAM DELIVERS NUTRITIOUS USDA APPROVED FOOD TO HOME-BOUND SENIORS IN THE COMMUNITY. ROOTS PARTICIPANTS ARE OVER THE AGE OF 60 AND LIVING ON LESS THAN 130% OF THE POVERTY LEVEL. SENIORS REPRESENT A GROWING POPULATION OF PEOPLE WHO COME TO MISSOULA FOOD BANK & COMMUNITY CENTER. APPROXIMATELY 145 VOLUNTEERS WORK 175 HOURS EACH MONTH TO ASSEMBLE AND DELIVER THESE FOOD BOXES. THIS PAST YEAR, 7,463 ROOTS HOMEBOUND CLIENT BOXES WERE SERVED. THE KIDS EMPOWER PACK PROGRAM IS A WEEKEND NUTRITION PROGRAM HELPING KIDS STAY HEALTHY AND NOURISHED WHILE SCHOOL IS NOT IN SESSION. KIDS IN THE PROGRAM ARE IDENTIFIED BY SCHOOL OFFICIALS WHO RECOGNIZE BEHAVIORS AND CIRCUMSTANCES OF CHILDREN LIVING IN CHRONIC HUNGER AT HOME. IN 2018, 37,891 EMPOWER PACKS WERE PROVIDED TO KIDS. THE KIDS TABLE PROGRAM PARTNERS WITH LOCAL CHILDCARE PROGRAMS TO HELP FEED KIDS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE GO HUNGRY. IT ALSO OFFERS FREE LUNCH TO CHILDREN AT OPEN MEAL SITES IN THE SUMMER. NUTRITIONALLY BALANCED MEALS AND SNACKS ARE OFFERED TO THE KIDS. THE PROGRAM PROVIDED 38,696 MEALS IN THE SUMMER PROGRAM AND 70,708 AFTER SCHOOL MEALS IN JUNE 2018. IN JUNE 2018 WE ADDED A BUS TO OUR FLEET THAT SERVES CHILDREN IN THREE SEPARATE NEIGHBORHOODS AS A MOBILE MEAL SITE. MISSOULA FOOD BANK & COMMUNITY CENTER RECEIVED, SORTED AND DISTRIBUTED 1,793,031 POUNDS OF DONATED FOOD IN 2018, PLUS ADDITIONAL PURCHASED PRODUCTS. IN ALL, 288,026 SERVICES WERE PROVIDED IN CALENDAR YEAR 2018.
