At the same time we strive to empower our volunteers who are all recovering addicts and alcoholics. Paws Fur Recovery aims to promote these benefits for our dogs and volunteers: - Encourages positive change and a sense of purpose - Increases self-esteem - Teaches trust again - Promotes responsibility and accountability - Decreases anxiety and depression in both the addict and the dog - Provides socialization for both the addict and the dog - Creates a symbiotic relationship of unconditional love and acceptance
About
Every year, six million dogs wait to be adopted from animals shelters — so many that nearly one million are euthanized each year due to overcrowding. Adopting not only gives a rescue dog a second chance in a happy home, but can also save it from being euthanized in an overcrowded shelter. Paws Fur Recovery rescues and rehabilitates these dogs stuck in high kill shelters that are at-risk of euthanasia.
