Mission

Miry’s List is a nonprofit organization that provides a mechanism for people to directly help new arrival refugee families with the incredible challenge of resettlement in the US- we help these families connect with caring people, basic necessities, and services that make this process less isolating and less intimidating.

About

Miry's List is made up of neighbors and friends dedicated to welcoming new arrival refugee families into our community through inspired crowdsourcing solutions. Miry's List provides a mechanism for people to directly help new arrival refugee families with the incredible challenge of resettlement in the United States. With practical support and joyful friends waiting to welcome them, resettling families are set up to thrive through Miry's List's wrap-around programs that extend long beyond government support. We believe that intentional, individualized, and intense support provided to resettling refugee families in those difficult first 12-18 months leads to better outcomes for the community at large. Miry's List's work is an investment—in families, human beings, and new Americans. It's about investing in them upon arrival because the need is so great, and the impact is so real.

Accomplishments

  • Creating wishlists and providing supplies program objective: to create wishlists and provide supplies and the unique material items each vulnerable population family needs to survive. first, miry's list volunteers meet with each family to survey and assess their unique material needs. then using the information gathered, the volunteers create individualized online registries and wish lists for each vulnerable population family. these lists are then promoted online via social media sites, such as facebook, instagram, and twitter, as well as miry's list email newsletter, to attract the attention of potential donors. donors are then able purchase items from the wish list and said items are shipped directly from the third-party retailer to the family..commonly requested supplies include household supplies such as cleaning supplies, bedding, dining utensils, and furniture, as well as personal care supplies such as toiletries and personal hygiene products, and family-specific items such as diapers, formula, cribs, and walkers. however, each vulnerable population family is unique, and the requested supplies often differ between each family..the longer term objective of this program is to provide the necessary and unique material items each newly arrived recipient family needs in order to rebuild their lives in southern california so they can grow and thrive..during the year, we served 73 families totaling more than 300 individuals. .we estimate that the value of goods donated to our client's was 20,000..we also donated emergency funds in the amount of 4,131 that included rent, large appliances, beds, and licenses required for employment. Expenses $4,341.
  • Hosting community dinnersprogram objective: miry's list organizes community dinners whereby miry's list hosts dinners for vulnerable population families and interested members of the general public. these dinners allow newly arrived vulnerable population families to meet and socialize with members of the public with whom they would not otherwise be acquainted. these dinners also serve to educate the public on the culture and needs of the families. attendees are also given the opportunity to donate money directly to the organization. .the longer term objective of this program is to create a social atmosphere to open up the community to both the newly arrived vulnerable population families and members of the general public to establish community cohesion..during the year, we held 4 community dinners..it should be noted that during the year, both of our programs for a portion of the year was operated by our fiscal sponsor, social and environmental entrepreneurs. all quantitative data includes only those we served directly and not through our fiscal sponsor. Expenses $0.
