Books for Collier Kids(BCK) mission is to provide books to children in need, addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy: access to books. BCK has a single purpose: give books to disadvantaged children in our community to take home, share, cherish and own. BCK gives books to more than 8,000 children a year in 350 classrooms to Title I schools in Collier County, Florida. BCK gives a book a month throughout the school year to children in pre-k, kindergarden, first- and second-grade classrooms, the critical age for development of reading skills. Beyond giving books to young students in Collier County public schools, BCK also works with more than twenty other non-profit agencies in Collier County to distribute books to children in need. For example, we work with Habitat of Humanity and provide a handmade book shelf and 15 age-appropriate books at 100 home dedications each year.
