Mission
The Mission of Transplanting Traditions Community Farm is to provide refugee adults and youth access to land, healthy food and agricultural based economic opportunities. The heart of TTCF is an 8-acre farm in Chapel Hill, N.C. where refugees from Burma build farm businesses and re-create home. We envision a world in which all people have access to healthy affordable food, land, education, satisfying work and a space to celebrate culture and to build strong resilient communities.
About
Transplanting Traditions Community Farm (TTCF) provides refugee youth and adults access to land, healthy food, education, leadership and entrepreneurial opportunities as a means to reduce food insecurity and poverty amongst the refugee community. TTCF achieves this through four interconnected programs: Business Development Program which builds capacity and provides technical support to help refugee farmers start and sustain small farm business through market sales and a community supported agriculture (CSA) vegetable subscription program. Refugee Teen Internship Program focused on leadership development through food justice activism, environmental and social justice. Hunger Relief Program (Share-A-Share) addresses food insecurity in the greater refugee community. Farmer Leadership Program places farmers in paid staff managerial roles on the farm and provides job skills based training. Young Children's Program focused on healthy eating and active play with refugee children on the farm. In 2018 we transitioned our operations from a fiscal agent to being on our own.
