Mission

Zanmi Fondwa is dedicated to creating stability in Fondwa, Haiti through housing, education and economic development. Our goal is to provide jobs for Haitians by building 40 homes in three years

About

During 2018, Zanmi Fondwa began work toward their goal of 40 homes in three years in the community of Fondwa, Haiti. A committee of community leaders met to identify families to receive homes. The committee visited each existing home, interviewed the families and ensured that the families own their land. 14 families were selected to take part in the program during 2018. They represent the first 14 homes that will be built. These families will receive training in food safety, banking, cooking, water treatment and overall health. Construction began on the first new home in 2018. The home was completed and dedicated in February 2019. Five people will live in this first home. Twenty Haitians received regular work and payment for labor during 2018. Zanmi Fondwa paid for these services, along with cost of materials (rock, sand, concrete blocks, painting, roofing, etc). Additionally, Zanmi Fondwa paid for services of translators, meal preparation and seminar teaching.
