Mission

To provide development assistance and humanitarian aid to the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

About

The third largest country in Africa, the Democratic Republic of Congo borders nine countries and is situated in the region known as Sub-Saharan Africa. In terms of quality of life, DR Congo ranks at the bottom of the UNs Human Development Index in the world, among the lowest life expectancy, education levels, and income.Life for most people is a daily struggle to survive. According to the UN, 95% of the people earn less than $2 a day and about 70% of Congolese lack access to adequate food. Children are the most vulnerable. Nine percent of children under age five are acutely malnourished, and 43 percent suffer from chronic malnutrition. In 2018, Congo Relief Mission Inc. (CRM) continued to support its new priority: orphan children.Provided funds to help support 5 orphanages with around 200 children ranging in age from newborns to 18 years olds. The fifth annual Celebration for Congolese Orphans event on Oct 2018 raised over $46,000 to help feed and care for these orphans. School fees were paid for 164 orphans and 300 school children in the village. The orphanages also received funds to purchase emergency food. CRM purchased a chalk-making machine to allow schools in Mbuji-Mayi to purchase chalk locally rather than from Kinshasa and simultaneously support local orphans. In addition, CRM received a donation to build a chapel. The efforts of Congo Relief Mission (CRM) benefit people in extreme poverty living in Mbujimayi. Mbujimayi is located in the center-south region of Congo, in the Eastern Kasai region. The third largest city in Congo, Mbujimayi, has a population of more than three million people. It is a largely underdeveloped area with a total lack of basic infrastructure. Only a small percentage of the people have access to electricity and running water. Conflict, political uncertainty, and economic collapse have left many people without basic essentials, especially women and children. CRMs programs help the most vulnerable members of society.
