Mission
The Humane Society of Taos, Inc, DBA Stray Hearts Animal Shelter, is dedicated to interim compassionate and humane care for lost and abandoned canines and felines. Our Humane Society and Shelter serves the Taos County area of Northern New Mexico.
About
Accomplishments for 2018 are as follows: -obtained a new veterinary contract. -added three additional transfer partners. -added one part-time veterinarian o the clinical staff. -completed and implemented two additional contract veterinarian agreements. -completed staff training in 'playgroups for life' ,which allowed us to increase to three weekly playgroups. -surpassed 200 volunteers. -obtained a new RFP from Taos Pueblo. -increased outdoor kennel space and added improvements to play yard accessibility. -installed kennel roofs to replace tarps. -installed puppy pads and new kennels. -sealed and improved cat isolation area. -installed pressure washer in main building. -installed air purifiers in cat isolation room, cattery and four dog rooms in main building. -installed privacy screens on kennels.
