SUPPORT AND PROMOTE VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY FOR ABUSED & NEGLECTED FOSTER CHILDREN IN THE FIRST JUDICIAL DIST. THE MISSION OF CASA, FIRST JUDICIAL DISTRICT IS TO SUPPORT COURT-APPOINTED VOLUNTEER ADVOCACY SO THAT ABUSED AND NEGLECTED CHILDREN IN SANTA FE, RIO ARRIBA, AND LOS ALAMOS COUNTIES CAN BE SAFE, ESTABLISH A PERMANENT HOME AND HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO THRIVE.

A. WE HELD 2 NEW CASA TRAINING CLASSES AND TRAINED AND SWORE IN 19 NEW VOLUNTEER COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES (CASA'S). B. PROVIDED A CASA TO 175 CHILDREN, SERVING 81% OF CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE IN OUR DISTRICT.C. OUTCOMES FOR CHILDREN SERVED: 49 CHILDREN'S ABUSE AND NEGLECT CASES WERE RESOLVED 30 CHILDREN WERE ADOPTED 16 CHILDREN WERE REUNIFIED WITH THEIR FAMILIES 2 CHILDREN AGED OUT OF FOSTER CARE 1 CHILD WAS RELEASED TO A SUPERVISED GROUP HOMED. WE PROVIDED 60 HOURS OF PRE-SERVICE TRAINING, AND OFFERED 51 HOURS OF IN-SERVICES, WITH 41 HOURS INCLUDING DIVERSITY AND CULTURAL COMPETENCY TRAINING. E. CASAS CONTRIBUTED OVER 6908 HOURS F. G. 215 CASA REPORTS WERE FILED AND WE ATTENDED 267 COURT HEARINGS.THE USE OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS IS FUNDAMENTAL TO THE MISSION OF CASA FIRST. EACH CASA VOLUNTEER ADVOCATE UNDERGOES SPECIALIZED TRAINING OF 30 HOURS BEFORE THEY CAN BE SWORN IN AS AN ADVOCATE BEFORE THE DISTRICT COURT. ADDITIONALLY, CASA VOLUNTEER ADVOCATES ARE EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN REGULAR IN-SERVICE CONTINUING EDUCATION ON AN ANNUAL BASIS. CASA VOLUNTEERS WORK AN ESTIMATED 10-12 HOURS PER MONTH DIRECTLY ON THEIR ASSIGNED CASES AND COURT REPORTING. DURING THE YEAR ENDED JUNE 30, 2019, CASA VOLUNTEERS CONTRIBUTED OVER 6900 HOURS OF SERVICE, AN INCREASE OF 20% FROM THE PRIOR YEAR.
