About

ECOLOGICAL FORESTRY: THE FOREST STEWARDS GUILD ACTIVELY PRACTICES AND PROMOTES ECOLOGICAL FORESTRY, AN APPROACH TO RESPONSIBLE RESOURCE MANAGEMENT THAT SUSTAINS THE ENTIRE FOREST ECOSYSTEM AND HUMAN COMMUNITIES. WE WORK FROM MAINE TO NEW MEXICO AND WISCONSIN TO WASHINGTON STATE TO IMPROVE HOW FORESTRY IS PRACTICED THROUGH RESEARCH, EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND DEMONSTRATION. IN 2018, TWELVE GUILD GATHERINGS IN FORESTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY DREW HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE TO LEARN AND EXPLORE. GUILD GATHERINGS ARE BUILT FROM THE INSPIRATION OF MEMBERS, STAFF AND PARTNERS AND THEY ARE DIVERSE IN SETTINGS, PURPOSES AND FORMATS. THEY DEMONSTRATE FORESTRY TECHNIQUES, EXPLORE MANAGEMENT POSSIBILITIES, OR FEATURE SPECIFIC SITES. FOR EXAMPLE, OUR LEARNING EXCHANGE IN GEORGIA TACKLED THE CHALLENGE OF ECOLOGICAL MANAGEMENT IN BOTTOMLAND HARDWOOD FORESTS.
