Mission
The mission of Borderlands Produce Rescue is to supplement meals in Arizona communities with fresh nutritious rescued produce while reducing food waste and methane gas from landfills. The organization rescues produce that would otherwise go to landfill and redistributes it to improve the quality of people's lives by increasing access to nutritious produce and protecting the environment.[1][3]
About
Borderlands rescued 17.5M pounds of fresh produce during the 2018-2019 fiscal year, supplementing nutritious meals of approximately 48M, serving an estimated 307,500 families or almost 1.23M persons, and keeping 1.3M pounds of green gas emissions from landfills by preventing the produce from being dumped, all the while providing healthy veggies and fruit to the needy.
