REBUILDING TOGETHER IS THE LEADING NATIONAL NONPROFIT WORKING TO PRESERVE AFFORDABLE HOME OWNERSHIP AND REVITALIZE NEIGHBORHOODS BY BRINGING VOLUNTEERS AND COMMUNITIES TOGETHER TO REHABILITATE THE HOMES OF LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS. THESE PROJECTS ARE ACCOMPLISHED AT NO COST TO THE HOMEOWNER THROUGH THE HARD WORK OF MORE THAN 200 AFFILIATES NATIONWIDE. REBUILDING TOGETHER SOUTHERN NEVADA HAS BEEN OPERATING IN THE GREATER LAS VEGAS AREA SINCE 1994, BUT WAS INCORPORATED MANY YEARS AGO AS CHRISTMAS IN APRIL. THE ORGANIZATION HELPS LOW-INCOME HOMEOWNERS. MORE AND MORE FAMILIES FIND THEMSELVES IN THE POSITION OF CHOOSING BETWEEN VITAL NECESSITIES OVER ESSENTIAL HOME REPAIRS AND MODIFICATIONS. RECIPIENTS OF SERVICE INCLUDE THE DISABLED AND ELDERLY, AT-RISK FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN, VETERANS AND ACTIVE MEMBERS OF OUR NATION'S MILITARY. LOCAL INITIATIVES INCLUDE: -CRITICAL HOME REPAIR, ROOFING, ELECTRICAL, AND PLUMBING PERFORMED BY LICENSED CONTRACTORS PAID BY REBUILDING TOGETHER -LICENSED CONTRACTORS WILL PROVIDE ENERGY AUDITS, UPGRADE HVAC AND BUILDING ENVELOPE SYSTEMS -HOME MODIFICATIONS THAT INCLUDE RAMPS, GRAB BARS, MINOR STRUCTURAL CHANGES PERFORMED BY LICENSED CONTRACTORS PAID BY REBUILDING TOGETHER -NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY, VOLUNTEER DRIVEN WITH 1,200 TO 1,500 VOLUNTEERS ANNUALLY ON THE LAST SATURDAY IN APRIL, WHICH INCLUCES EXTERIOR PAINTING AND PROPERTY CLEAN-UP. -MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY, ALSO VOLUNTEER DRIVEN ANNUALLY DURING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER WHICH INCLUDES EXTERIOR PAINTING AND PROPERTY CLEAN-UP. -VETERANS INITIATIVE, ALSO VOLUNTEER DRIVEN, DURING THE SECOND WEEKEND OF NOVEMBER, DESIGNED TO ADDRESS HOME REHABILITATION NEEDS OF VETERANS AND CURRENTLY DEPLOYED MILITARY.
