About

Animal care and adoption services: The Yakima Humane Society is the only open-admission shelter serving Yakima County (the second largest county in Washington State) since 1904. The society welcomes all animals, regardless of health or temperament, and keeps them available for adoption providing medical care as needed. Every animal receives an initial health evaluation and preventative care, including vaccinations, flea and tick treatment and parasite preventative treatment upon arrival. The health and welfare of the animals in our care is our top priority, shelter pets diagnosed with an illness or injury are treated by local veterinarians. Spay or neuter surgery and a microchip implant are performed for every cat and dog prior to adoption. The Yakima Humane Society neither euthanizes for lack of space nor puts time restraints on the animals in our care.
