SMASH is committed to eliminating the barriers faced by underrepresented people of color in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) and fostering their untapped talent for the advancement of our nation.
About
SMASH Academy - SMASH, the summer math and science honors academy, is a free, three-year STEM-intensive residential college prep program that empowers students to deepen their talents and pursue STEM careers. Every summer, scholars are immersed in tuition-free studies at leading universities throughout the country. During the academic year, scholars participate in monthly programming. Smash Academy scholars are coached by instructors that represent the future they can have. Because of their common background, students connect more deeply with instructors and gain true mentorship from these STEM professors and industry professionals. As scholars advance through the program, they not only develop their skills and network, but also find their voice and build the confidence to become who they want to be. During 2018, the Smash Academy served scholars in 7 different sites (UC Berkeley, Stanford University, UCLA, UC Davis, Morehouse College, the Wharton School, and Wayne State University).
