TO INSPIRE COMMUNITY COLLABORATION TO ENRICH THE LIVES OF OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS THROUGH NUTRITIOUS MEALS SERVED WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT. WE FEED THE HUNGRY AND HOMELESS OF FAIRBANKS NORTH STAR BOROUGH EACH WEEK DAY OF THE YEAR FROM 7:30 AM TO 10 AM. WE ARE ALSO A PASS-THROUGH AGENCY FOR WARM CLOTHING AND TOILETRIES. IN 2017, WE FED OVER 30,000 HOT MEALS AND OVER 11,000 SACK LUNCHES TO OVER 600 INDIVIDUALS.

IN 2018, THE BREAD LINE SERVED 30,636 FREE SIT-DOWN MEALS AND 11,177 TO-GO LUNCHES OUT OF STONE SOUP CAFE - OUR SOUP KITCHEN IN DOWNTOWN FAIRBANKS, ALASKA. IN ORDER TO MEET THIS NEED, THE STONE SOUP CAFE ACCEPTED MORE THAN 60,000 POUNDS OF FOOD DONATED - THE BULK OF WHICH CAME FROM THE GENEROSITY OF THE FAIRBANKS COMMUNITY FOOD BANK AND THE FAIRBANKS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AS WELL AS NUMEROUS SMALLER DONATIONS FROM THE FAIRBANKS COMMUNITY AT LARGE. THE STONE SOUP CAFE IS OPEN MONDAY-FRIDAY, EVERY WEEK OF THE YEAR, REGARDLESS OF HOLIDAY OR FOUL WEATHER. THIS IS ONLY POSSIBLE BECAUSE HUNDREDS OF VOLUNTEERS SERVED OVER 1,700 SHIFTS TO MAKE SURE OUR MOST VULNERABLE NEIGHBORS HAVE ACCESS TO A HOT MEAL IN A SAFE SPACE.IN ADDITION TO THE STONE SOUP CAFE, THE BREAD LINE ALSO FULFILLS A CONTRACT MEAL SERVICE FOR TANANA CHIEF'S HOUSING FIRST INITIATIVE - 7 DAYS A WEEK, EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR. WE PROVIDE 14,600 NUTRITIOUS DINNERS AND 5,475 LUNCHES FOR THEIR RESIDENTS ANNUALLY. IN ALL, WE SERVE OVER 500 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS FACING HUNGER IN INTERIOR ALASKA.THIS YEAR, OUR STONE SOUP COMMUNITY GARDEN CAME INTO IT'S 4TH GROWING YEAR. THE GARDEN WAS LOVING TENDED BY ONE PART-TIME STAFFER AND MORE THAN 30 VOLUNTEERS. TOGETHER, THEY SUCESSFULLY HARVESTED THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF PRODUCE THAT WAS USED IN OUR SOUP KITCHEN AND IN PROVIDING FOOD ASSISTANCE TO AREA POPULATIONS VULNERABLE TO HUNGER.
