The IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO) is an Israeli nonprofit organization (amuta) dedicated to supporting the spouses and children of Israel’s fallen soldiers, police officers, and security services personnel. Founded in 1991, IDFWO stands as a pillar of strength and compassion, committed to providing comprehensive emotional, social, and financial support to the families of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Israel. Officially recognized by the State of Israel, we reach 100% of the people we serve. The families of Israel’s fallen heroes paid the highest price and you can help rebuild their lives. Following the funeral, the eulogies, the gun salute, and the shiva are the lives of those left behind. When someone is abruptly taken from us it is not just a single life that ends. Instead, an entire universe of potential shatters – dreams dissolve, futures evaporate, and what remains is a landscape of acute pain and bewildering loss. Since the atrocities committed on October 7, 2023, and the Swords of Iron War that followed, the number of new families requiring our support has surged in a dramatically unprecedented way. This has left the IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO) forever changed, creating an urgent need to significantly scale our programming and individual support. In response to this pivotal moment in our history, IDFWO launched several new emergency responses to meet the urgent needs of the women and children left behind. Our mission; to HELP REBUILD THEIR LIVES by providing comprehensive lifelong emotional, psychosocial, and financial support to ensure that the families of our fallen heroes navigate their journey of recovery and resilience with futures full of dignity and success. Just as soldiers have selflessly sacrificed their lives for our safety and freedom, it is our absolute collective responsibility to support the widows and orphans they leave behind. We owe them everything.
