Mission

The Pasadena Playhouse is a place where people have gathered for 100 years to experience bold and important theater. We are one of the most prolific theaters in American history with a legacy of profound theatrical impact and courageous new work. As the state theater of California, our mission is to enrich people’s lives through theater, community programs and learning.

About

The main stage season included a production of 'Native Gardens', a play by Karen Zacarias with direction by Jason Alexander, the West End production of 'The Woman in Black', a major revival of the classic musical 'Ragtime', the Public Theater's production of 'Tiny Beautiful Things' featuring the original cast, and a revised version of Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa's thriller, 'Good Boys.' The theater also produced a radio play of 'It's a Wonderful Life' during the holiday season. Community@Play provided free tickets and workshops to thousands of members of the community with barriers to the arts including local Title I public school students and members of local service organizations including the entire 7th grade of Pasadena Unified School District. Other community events included the Playhouse Block Party, serving over 12,000 members of our community.
