THE COUNCIL FOR WATERSHED HEALTH(CWH) IS A NON-PROFIT TAX EXEMPT 501(C)(3) FOUNDED IN 1996 BY DOROTHY GREEN TO PRESERVE, RESTORE, AND ENHANCE THE LOS ANGELES RIVER AND SAN GABRIEL RIVER WATERSHEDS. CWH WORKS TO PROMOTE MORE EFFICIENT USE OF STORM WATER RESOURCES BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP, GUIDANCE, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS TO AFFECT SOUND WATERSHED PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT. CWH RELIES ON APPLIED RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS TO INFORM POLICY CHAGE THAT CAN LEAD TO A MORE SUSTAINABLE SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGION FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF WATER QUALITY AND WATER QUANTITIY MANAGEMENT. WHILE OUR EFFORTS TO CONTINUE TO CENTER ON THE WATERSHEDS OF THE GREATER LOS ANGELES REGION, OUR WORK COMMONLY EXTENDS BEYOND THIS GEOGRAPHY TO SUPPORT AND FURTHER THE ORGANIZATIONS CORE MISSION VALUES. THE VARIOUS PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS OF CWH BUILT UPON THREE KEY STRATEGIES: 1)INTEGRATED PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT, 2)MONITORING AND ASSESSMENT, AND 3)EDUCATION AND ENGAGEMENTCWH'S CORE MISSION IS TO ADVANCE THE HEALTH AND SUSTAINABILITY OF THE REGION'S WATERSHEDS,RIVERS, AND HABITATS - BOTH IN NATURAL AREAS AND URBAN NEIGHBORHOODS.
