The Mission of Taking the Reins is advancing girl power through horsepower. We seek to inspire at-risk girls to act with courage and confidence through experiences with horses as well as providing hands-on natural science instruction for children throughout Los Angeles.

In 2018, through Taking the Reins' core, gender-specific Equestrianand Urban Farm Programs, TTR served 373 underserved middle and highschool girls at TTR's urban farm. Programs supported girls' personaland social development and scholastic achievement. In addition, tosupport local Title 1 schools' boys and girls, ages 9-13, TTR providedits Urban Farm as a learning space and educational, field-tripdestination. In 2018, 223 students participated in experientiallearning activities in natural science and environmental stewardship.In total, 596 youth participated in TTR programs and enrichmentactivities.
