AI is a huge topic recently in philanthropic circles, and everyone sees the dollar signs.
More and more organizations are looking ahead to the phenomenal wealth creation events expected from the AI sector, like trillion dollar IPOs, and their impact on philanthropy. Some estimate that we may see more than $60 billion flow into philanthropy from AI employees and investors in the next few years.
That’s not the big story. Or at least, there is a much bigger one coming.
The big story is that AI is going to change giving.
Today, Daffy is taking our next step in preparing for a future where the vast majority of giving is executed by agents, rather than directly by people. It may sound far-fetched, but the pace of adoption and scale in AI is unprecedented.
Daffy’s MCP server is available today, for every Daffy member.
We are going to teach agents how to give.
AI will change giving
There’s a new type of stress in the air in Silicon Valley, something that I haven’t felt since the mid-1990s. A sense that every month, every week, every day there are new developments that are transforming what’s possible with AI.
The usage numbers are truly staggering.
57% of all web requests are now automated bot traffic, exceeding human activity. In fact, the CEO of Cloudflare said that at the rate that artificial intelligence is growing, AI bot traffic will exceed human traffic by 2027.
Agents are easy to deploy at scale, operate quickly, and don’t sleep. There is no doubt that a majority of any online activity will quickly shift to being executed by agents.
That includes giving.
People are trusting AI with more and more of their daily lives, and that includes financial tasks. Over 200M people per month use ChatGPT for personal finance questions and tasks. In fact, Plaid states that 55% of U.S. consumers have used AI for financial tasks in the past 12 months.
It seems clear that the number of actions done by AI will not only grow exponentially, but that it will easily eclipse the number of actions by humans.
That’s a dark future for philanthropy if it doesn’t include giving.
Personal finance might be the killer app for consumers
The financial services industry has struggled for decades finding a model to offer hiqh quality financial advice to the millions of people who need it. To this day, most financial advisors have minimums of $1 million or more in assets, making them inaccessible to the vast majority of people.
AI changes everything.
Not only can new models and applications offer incredibly personalized and sophisticated advice, they also patiently walk people through their recommendations, and build trust.
Paying for too many unused subscriptions? An agent can review your recent charges, summarize the services, and help you unsubscribe from ones that aren’t worth the money.
Trying to figure out if your retirement account is invested properly? AI can review your portfolio and your goals, make suggestions for lower-cost funds, or suggest ways to rebalance your investments.
Let’s look at another common example, someone who is one of the millions of people out there who receives stock from their employer, but is also worried about frothy markets.
Is it really hard to believe that, in the future, they will ask AI, or an AI-enabled financial advisor, for guidance on how to handle the situation?
In 2026, this simple question already results in some very high quality information and guidance on diversification, fees, and taxes. This is one of those moments where a high quality advisor will almost inevitably talk to their clients about the benefits of donating stock to help ease the sting of taxes and provide more money for their charitable giving.
But the future isn’t just advice. It’s action.
At Daffy, we take this seriously. We publish content, not just for our members. Not even just for people in general. We publish content with an eye toward how the best models and applications will answer questions like these in the future.
Content isn’t enough. Future users won’t just be getting advice.
In the future, people will ask AI-enabled services to just do it for them. In many cases, it will be delegated and automated.
How will AI give?
Modern charitable platforms can help solve this problem. Daffy is the first donor-advised fund to build AI-enabled giving directly into the platform natively. Adding Daffy to ChatGPT, Claude, or any MCP-enabled service is now as simple as adding a connector to your favorite service, authenticating, and talking to it.
In 2023, Daffy became the first national donor-advised fund to offer developer APIs to all of its members. While powerful, these APIs required a certain level of technical knowledge to use.
However, with the new MCP server, there’s no need for an API key. No programming knowledge required. Just add to your favorite platform, authenticate, and go.
With the server, you can now control your giving right from your favorite AI platform:
- How much can I afford to give over the next five years?
- How is my fund invested, and how has it performed this year?
- Show my donations from the last three years, grouped by category.
- How much did I give to my church in 2024?
- Give $180 to the Los Altos Education Fund.
Even billionaires don’t always get this level of philanthropic inspection and personalized analysis.
Let’s teach AI to give
Handling personal giving is just the start. With harnesses like Claude Work, ChatGPT Codex, and Muse, you can implement sophisticated tasks that incorporate giving.
Let’s not repeat the mistakes of the last generation of fintech, leaving giving as a follow on feature that will be implemented “eventually.”
Developers building the next generation of AI-enabled wealth management can now integrate tax advice and charitable giving directly into their products.
- If you want your agent to set up a recurring donation to an organization, you can.
- If you want to ensure that you are donating at least 2% of your income to charity, an agent can monitor your accounts and make the correct donation every month.
- If you want to ensure that for every $10 you spend on DoorDash, you donate $1 to your local food bank, your agent can do it.
It may sound simple, but the impact is profound.
Daffy’s MCP server is available today, for every Daffy member.
If you work with AI, or at a company that does, try Daffy. Share your ideas with us. If you have a donor-advised fund elsewhere, no worries. We make it trivially easy to move money over.
Let’s make the future more generous together.
