The Child Development Center (CDC) at King's Daughters Medical Center (KDMC) is open Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. KDMC team members, as well as members of the community, may enroll their children ages 6 weeks to 4 years old. The center has a total of 8 classrooms. The lead teachers in toddler through preschool have a Child Development Associate (CDA) or above. On staff, 3 lead teachers hold a CDA, 1 holds a bachelor's degree in early childhood, 1 has an associate degree in early childhood, and 1 holds a bachelor's degree. Continued on schedule O. On staff as assistants, 2 hold a CDA and 1 holds an early childcare credential. The director holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a director's credential in early childhood. Approximately 94 children were enrolled in FY2019 with a monthly average of 88. The CDC employed approximately 34 team members. Age appropriate curriculum is designed to meet the needs of the children in each classroom. Kindergarten readiness is a priority in the preschool classrooms. Family involvement and visits are encouraged. Community involvement includes visiting the local fire department, visits from the local police department and other community helpers. The CDC director networks with higher education facilities to involve local students in experiences at the center.
